Let me first apologize for not being on Triyn to type this (I’m still trying to figure out how to switch the profile to him!)
Anyway I have been talking with Rogannon and Dydra about restructuring the guilds ranks.
Some of you may have already noticed that Whining Maggot is no longer the lowest tier. It has been replaced by "Cooldown", a rank that has the ability to see guild chat but not speak in guild chat.
Some of you I’m sure are scratching your heads about this, please let me explain. In the last two weeks there was a great deal of personal drama that was brought into guild chat. When people were asked to take it out of guild chat they didn’t do so. Our officers didn’t want it taken out of guild chat because the situation was un-important but rather because the entire guild doesn't need to be brought into personal problems. Now if players refuse to take it out of guild chat, they will not be removed but put in the cooldown rank to let them ...well ...cooldown. This is not a loss in rank or stature in the guild. It is just a way to try to keep the hurt feelings and harsh comments to a minimum.
It is a rule of the guild to keep your personal problems..personal. If you have a problem with another player in the guild, please try to discuss it with them in whispers. If that doesn’t seem to go anywhere get an officer involved so that we can help solve the problem. When the officers become involved they will do their very best to solve the problem, if things still aren’t solved please contact myself (Triyn), Dydra, or Rogannon to assist.
All that said I’m looking for suggestions.
I would like to continue to restructure the guild into levels based on what a player does (IE. raiders are under a "raid" level, Alts are under an "alt" level, Officers are under an "officer" level). This is still in its early stages but I would like some suggestions if you are willing. They can be for anything along these lines. If you have ideas on what the ranks should be called, or how they should be set up Please post on this thread I will really appreciate it.
Hey all, I just wanted to know on the subject of rank what it is that I need to do as a player to exceed the current rank of general and step into the upper echelon of "supreme" status. I have been in this guild since 2005, recruited by Ravvi and Lunaticcalm, and I notice that there are people who are fairly new in that respect getting ranked above me. If there is something that i'm not doing and should be, or conversely something I am doing and shouldn't be, let me know. Thank you, Mattheya
I'm curious about this myself. I've been with the guild only about a year but I agree with Mattheya. What have the newcomers done to so quickly, to have reached these Top ranks. I feel proud to be where I am (general) now after so short a time. But from new member to officer in less than a month, or a week, or a day! They must be something incrediable, and I would just like to know what exceptional talents they bring. Being an ACE raider is a great gift, but hardly a skill that quailifies someone to the status of officer. What is the list of acomplishment that brings one to the ranks of the Supreme. I am not trying to upset the status quo, but a clear path of acomplishements and service to the guild should be known before bringing someone into the inner circle of DN. Remeber it was said, it's what you do for the guild, not who you know !
Hey guys before this situation gets out of hand I would like to address to everyone in the guild the things that we as officers look at to promote one to an officer...
Although length of time in the guild is appriciated respected and loved..it is not the ulitmate reason to why somone gets promoted although it does play a factor in the situation.. I dont look to someone who raids all the time as being a factor for promotion either...
What Dirath, Rog, and I stand by is.... Contribution to the guild.ie:
Dedication to helping players progress Helping make difficult decisions Participation in guild events and conversations to better the guild Bringing dedicated people to the guild The ability to act mature in situations that arrize Having the guilds best interest at heart Remember this is a family guild
Those are just some of the factors...but Vung and Matt I will definatly take your suggestions and questions into concideration when have a officers meeting later this upcomming week. If you guys have any further questions or suggestions please feel free to talk to me and or to email me at nmbester at hotmail.com
The last thing I would want is anyones offenses to be up here..we are all mature adults or at least most of the time. I know we can handle this situation respectfully. With that being said I am going to wrap this up Happy Hunting and I am very honored to have ALL members that are in this guild reguardless of ranking you guys all have a special place in mine and DN's heart.
I agree with nikki...and i never intended for this thread to be an argument or even a question about these things.
I intended this only to get an idea how people would like it structured...this isnt an application for officer.
Please post in this thread what you would like the names of ranks to be, how many ranks i should have, and what they should be for. Please do not post in this thread about being an officer or the lack of status. As i have said in the near future Nikki, John, and I will be structuring the guild in a different way so much is going to change.
I think the cool down rank is a great idea. It will keep people from upsetting others in gchat. Not only is airing your dirty laundry in gchat distracting for those who may be in a raid or instance, but it is disrespectful to make personal issues public. The guild as a whole doesn't need to be privy to every member's beefs with guildies. Keeping those types of outbursts to a minimum is a very good idea. I like this guild, I like the people in it, I don't like to see feelings hurts or people put on ignore. I think more people should jump on TS in the evening to shoot the breeze when we are not raiding. As a whole I am here to interact with people who I find interesting and entertaining. If I want drama, I know where that section is in the video store. I don't need World of Warcraft for that.
Good call guys!! Yours, Libby (Whisperla, Avane, Kaylun, etc)
Your welcome DN hehehehehe. and if i think of anyways to improve the ranking i will let ya know them =) Not my cup of tea when it comes to restructuring but i can give my input when there is an idea given =) all i need it for u to tell me where to put my shadowbolt =)
This is directed to Iafiatoldya. You have been a true contribution to the guild and I thank you for them. Yes you and I do overlap aliitle on the online times, I seen logging in. I'm only 3 to 5 hours most nights. I have other things that call me away from DN otherwise I'd there alot more. Now that I've made the raid list. I honestly hope that if I'm lucky enough to have you in the raid. Give me any pointers you have, I'll take anything that you have to offer. I still have alot to learn and I'm not foolish enough to deny it. So I say Thanks again for all you've done. Perhaps one day I may be as much a benifet the guild the you have already proven to be.

Nikki aka Dydra
I Beleive I must have done a poor job of making my point. I have no quoms with any of the officers that we currently have nor with the how they were selected. Just how? That has been explained, and find nothing wrong with it and personaly think it a fine list. But how does one get involved with the process of discussing changes or improvement to the guild. In the short time I've been a member, only Rog's meeting about raiding was only I ever knew or heard about. Didn't say much because I haven't gone on my 1st yet. I care a lot about the guild and want to see it thrive, so any input I can give I will. 50 years of living must be worth something.
OK guys i understand. I think that the number of ranks is good, if there is one thing I might suggest it would be that you change the title of some of the lower ranks. "Brown noser" is kinda degrading as a title and long ago when the ranks were restructured and I received that title and found it to be offensive and wondered what I had done to upset the officers. I understand now that no offense was meant, but I was angry for a while. Maybe a title such as "underlings" up to the next step of "apprentice", then up to "adept", and so on. I didn't mean to open up a can of worms with the officer ranks, I was just wondering what I should be expected to do to be ranked up. I care about the guild and would like to be a bigger part of it. Thanks again, Mattheya
I'm in agreement as well... in my short stint as GM my one regret was not having restructured the ranks because I too found them disrespectful to my fellow guildies. I do know that Blizzard in its ultimate wisdom for some reason has placed a cap on the number of ranks that can be offered which makes restructuring extremely difficult. Each one of you plays an important role in keeping the guild strong and please don't ever feel that you don't. I know I am willing to har suggestions and pass them along and do my part to find a system with titles more fitting of the respect that I have for you all. ***Rogannon***

You are one class act Rog. Have I told you that? I really appriciate all that you and the other officers have done and are doing to keep the guild going in kelly's absence. Ty. Mattheya
redoing the guild rank in game is a bear. Basically set everyone as recruit or lowest rank for the time being. go threw and delete the ranks and remake new ones. Once all are made and set up you need to promote to what ever rank they are. Take a day or two to add in note of who is who's alt and so on.
I know I'm new but after playing this game since its release I've been with a few guilds. I'm not saying that what I have to say is any more valid then anyone else's, it's just what I believe. Restructuring the ranking system looks to be a good idea in my eyes. I also think that while the rank names can be fun, each rank needs to have set duties, especially in the officer ranks. I know this is a family oriented guild, which is something I enjoy a lot. In order to keep any raid progression, however, there needs to be a way to organize and lead without being harsh to any member who are here to enjoy their time and hang out with all of us. Just some thoughts to mule over for everyone is how to break up ranks between family players and raiders. Also how to organize the leadership ranks to get maximum effectiveness. I'll be interested to see where this goes over the next few days. Good luck and if you need anything just let me know.
